They Know They’re Out There, Too: Discover the Popular People Who Believe in UFOs

Legendary boxer Muhammad Ali was once quoted as saying, “If you look into the sky in the early morning you see them playing tag between the stars”. By “them” he meant those strange, inexplicable objects that from time to time appear to hover and fly across our skies. A fair few have been fortunate enough to witness them, but most have been unable to explain them: UFOs, or unidentified flying objects.

Although the idea of UFOs has its fair share of skeptics, it also has a rather large community of believers, which even include some very popular and distinguished individuals. Muhammad Ali is obviously one of them, and has claimed to have experienced two UFO sightings. The musician and singer David Bowie has also claimed to have been witness to UFOs when he was young. Even the legendary John Lennon allegedly saw a UFO from his New York apartment along with his secretary.

Other celebrities who have apparently seen UFOs include William Shatner, Will Smith, Jamie Farr, and Dick Gregory.

But the list of famous people who have seen UFOs isn't limited to actors and celebrities. Even people in government – in fact, the most powerful people in government – have claimed to have experienced UFO sightings. In the early 1970’s, Idi Amin, the former President of Uganda, claimed to have seen an object surrounded by clouds land on the surface of a lake and stay there for a couple of minutes, before setting off to the sky again.

American Presidents have also had their share of UFO sightings. When he was still Governor of Georgia, Jimmy Carter along with his wife reported a UFO sighting in 1969. The late Ronald Reagan also apparently sighted a UFO from his plane.

Other famous people who, though they have yet to see a UFO, believe that they are indeed out there. Jason Behr, who used to play an alien in the hit TV show Roswell, was once quoted as saying “Some people say there’s no alien life out there, but maybe they’re wrong. The ideas we through around on the show have opened my eyes”.

Director Steven Spielberg, who has made a string of films tackling the concept of the existence of aliens such as “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”, “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial”, and “War of the Worlds” also believe in the existence of life outside of our world. “I think that we all know that we’re not alone in the universe. I can’t imagine that we are the only intelligent biological life form out there”.
